The National Council adopted a double taxation agreement (DTA) with Kosovo in its meeting on May 29, 2018.
In accordance with the Federal Council's business (17,068), a DTA between Switzerland and Kosovo will be submitted to the two parliamentary chambers for approval.
At its meeting on 26 February 2018, the Council of States (as the first Council meeting to deal with the matter) had already approved the DTA and the federal decision on the approval of the DTA between Switzerland and Kosovo by 40 votes to 1 with 1 abstention.
The Federal Council also requested that in future all comparable DTAs can be approved by a simple federal decree. The Council of States rejected this provision and requested that it be deleted.
At its meeting on 29 May 2018, the National Council also approved the DTA between Switzerland and Kosovo as well as the changes made by the Council of States with regard to approval by simple federal decree by 116 votes to 60 with 3 abstentions.
