The Federal Council intends to address the need to modernize administrative criminal law with a complete revision of the VStrR. The aim is to make administrative criminal law more efficient and bring it into line with the Criminal Procedure Code. At the same time, the competent authorities are to be equipped with procedural instruments. In particular, the administrative units should be able to draw directly on the support of the competent cantonal police forces or the Federal Criminal Police. It is also envisaged that the administration will be able to file charges directly with the competent court and represent them independently in court proceedings.
At its meeting on January 31, 2024, it opened the corresponding consultation process. It will run until May 10, 2024.
