The Federal Tax Administration (FTA) has published its Activity Report 2016.

The 2016 activity report of the FTA explains the revenue of federal taxes and the content of tax policy transactions.

In its report, the FTA refers, among other things, to the optimization of procedures for the enforcement of tax laws and notes in this context that the number of companies in Switzerland, and thus the FTA's tax procedures, is increasing every year. According to the report, the increase in the number of companies subject to VAT has averaged 1.5% per year over the last five years (corresponding to around 5000 companies). According to the statements of the FTA, this growth can only be managed by constantly optimising processes.

The FTA also refers to the "FISCAL-IT" computer program and important tax policy proposals (including the rejection of the proposal to abolish the so-called "marriage penalty" and the Corporate Tax Reform III).

At the international level, the FTA's activity report refers to the high number of requests for administrative assistance made to Switzerland. The FTA assumes that the upcoming automatic exchange of information as well as the spontaneous exchange of information will further increase the tasks in the area of administrative assistance.
