After the "Federal Law on Tax Reform and OASI Financing" (STAF) was approved at the federal level by the people and the cantons with around 66% (see our contribution of 19 May 2019), the cantonal proposal was also accepted with a yes vote of around 56%.
With tax bill 17, the Canton of Zurich is implementing the STAF requirements in its cantonal tax law. In particular, this will reduce the overall tax burden from 21.1% to 19.7% from 2021 (direct federal tax and state and municipal taxes in the city of Zurich, calculated on the profit after deduction of taxes).
