At its meeting on 29 June 2022, the Federal Council opened the consultation on the amendment of the VAT Ordinance. The registration and settlement of value added tax (VAT) is to be carried out electronically in the future.
For some years now, the FTA has offered the possibility of submitting the VAT statement electronically. Today, practically all companies subject to VAT already register online, and 90% also settle their accounts online. Now the remaining taxable persons (around 40,000) are also to do this via the portal.
The consultation period lasts until 21 October 2022.
