On 16 October 2020, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer met with the Cantonal Government of Ticino and informed about the latest exchange with the Italian Ministry of Finance on the agreement with Italy on the taxation of cross-border commuters.

Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer met the Hungarian Finance Minister Varga Mihály in Budapest on 25 June 2021 and the Irish Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe in Dublin on 28 June 2021.

Both meetings focused on bilateral and multilateral issues such as the taxation of the digital economy. The EU's plans for a 21st century corporate tax system, which includes digital taxes and environmental taxes, were also discussed.
