Both parliamentary chambers (National Council and Council of States) have approved the double taxation agreement (DTA) with Pakistan in the final vote.
In accordance with the Federal Council's business (17,066), a DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan was submitted to the two parliamentary councils for approval.
At its meeting on 26 February 2018, the Council of States (as the first Council meeting to deal with the matter) had already adopted the DTA or the federal decision on the approval of the DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan by 41 votes to 1 with 1 abstention. The Federal Council also requested that in future all comparable DTAs can be approved by a simple federal decision. The Council of States rejected this provision and requested that it be deleted (cf. our contribution of 3 March 2018).
At its meeting on 29 May 2018, the National Council also approved the DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan as well as the amendments by the Council of States with regard to approval by simple federal decree by 116 votes to 60 with 3 abstentions (cf. our contribution of 3 June 2018).
In the final votes on 15 June 2018, both the National Council and the Council of States approved the DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan.
