Switzerland and Germany have adjusted the VAT settlement for the German municipality of Büsingen, which is part of the Swiss customs territory. These amended provisions will enter into force retroactively as of 1 January 2019.
According to the Federal Council's media release of 21 December 2020, Büsingen will therefore receive a good two million francs per year from Swiss VAT from 2019. The Federal Council approved the amendment to the agreement with Germany at its meeting on 20 November 2019.
