After the Council of States had still adopted a motion on strengthening individual legal protection in connection with the automatic exchange of information (AIA) on financial accounts (see our contribution of 9 December 2017), the National Council rejected the motion in its session of 29 May 2018.

According to the motion by the Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxation of the Council of States; WAK-S (17.3973), the Federal Council should be instructed to submit to parliament an amendment to Article 19 of the Federal Act on the International Automatic Exchange of Information in Tax Matters (AIAG).

At its meeting on 29 May 2018, the National Council rejected the motion by 122 votes to 66 with 0 abstentions.
