In its session of 2 June 2020, the National Council adopted the motion "Enabling Pillar 3a purchases".
According to the motion, the Federal Council should be instructed to amend Article 82 BVG and the corresponding ordinance provisions so that persons with an AHV income who in previous years were unable to pay any or only partial contributions to the pillar 3a scheme can make up for this and deduct them from their taxable income in the year of purchase.
The Federal Council requested that the motion be rejected.
The Council of States had already adopted the motion in its meeting on 12 September 2019.
The National Council also approved the motion in its session of 2 June 2020.
