At its meeting on 24 September 2018, the Council of States adopted an amendment to the double taxation agreement (DTA) with Ecuador.
In accordance with the business of the Federal Council (18,040), a protocol of amendment to the current DTA between Switzerland and Ecuador will be submitted to the two parliamentary councils for approval, which will introduce a provision on the exchange of information on request in accordance with the internationally applicable standard (cf. our contribution of 22 April 2018).
At its meeting on 24 September 2018, the Council of States (as the first Council to deal with the matter) approved the federal decision on the approval of a protocol to amend the DTA between Switzerland and Ecuador by 43 votes in favour, with 1 abstention.
