The Council of States approved a double taxation agreement (DTA) with Pakistan in its meeting on February 26, 2018.
In accordance with the Federal Council's business (17,066), a DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan will be submitted to the two parliamentary councillors for approval.
At its meeting on 26 February 2018, the Council of States (as the first Council to deal with the matter) approved the DTA and the federal decision on the approval of the DTA between Switzerland and Pakistan by 41 votes to 1 with 1 abstention.
The Federal Council also requested that in future all comparable DTAs can be approved by a simple federal decree. This provision was rejected by the Council of States, which requested its deletion.
