The Council of States approves the draft and the adjustments to tax bill 17 (SV 17) proposed by the Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxes of the Council of States (WAK-S) (cf. our contribution of 27 May 2018).
One of the main points that led to discussions among the Council members is the social compensation contained in the new bill through partial financing of the AHV (see the article and commentary on this in the NZZ of 7 June 2018).
At its meeting on 7 June 2018, the Council of States (First Council) adopted the proposal by 34 votes to 5 with 5 abstentions. The bill will now go to the National Council.
